What is Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA)?
Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) is a comprehensive methodology designed to evaluate the social and socio-economic impacts associated with a product or service throughout its entire life cycle—from raw material extraction through to disposal. This method integrates both quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions that enhance an organization’s social performance and improve stakeholder well-being.
Based on ISO 14040 framework, which is foundational for Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (E-LCA), S-LCA encompasses four distinct phases: Goal and Scope, Social Life Cycle Inventory (S-LCI), Social Life Cycle Impact Assessment (S-LCIA), and Interpretation. This iterative approach allows for continual refinement of assessments, ensuring relevance and precision in results.
